Hi there! Welcome to the 8th FiddleBop newsletter, now in colour (and with pictures, well with our logo anyway)! We hope that your summer is a memorable one. It's looking to be a warm and sunny day again as I write this, and we've already had several weeks of sunshine. Enjoy it while it lasts!
So what are you doing later today? (That's Sunday 28 July) If you are anywhere near Oxford between 4 pm and 6 pm, why not come along to our gig at the Crown, Cornmarket Street, Oxford? One of a series organised by Oxford Jazz Kitchen, it's outdoors in the courtyard of this fine old pub. Which is why I'm glad that the weather promises fair (fingers crossed). Hope to see you there!
OK, we've had a good and busy month, having played at ChippyFest 2013, Shipston Proms, and at lots of other gigs. There are some photos on FiddleBop's Facebook page, and more will appear on the FiddleBop website. Also we've finally mixed a short demo from the recordings we did earlier this year. Again, check out the FiddleBop website: the demo will appear there "real soon now"...
Sadly, Jo and I have lost a valued friend and musical colleague: Jules Dickinson. He died one weekend recently, just after a playing a gig and attending a beer festival. We miss you, Jules.
OK, enough chat. I'll get onto the important bit of the newsletter (the FiddleBop gig listings). As ever, check our FiddleBop website before setting to see (and hear) us, since gigs do get cancelled and timings do change. Until we see your smiling face again through a haze of hot jazz-with-a-gypsy-flavour: enjoy the rest of the summer!
